The FAA has proposed letting qualifying military trainees use their military flight physicals instead of a separate third-class medical for civilian training.
The FAA raised BasicMed's weight limit to 12,500 lbs and passenger cap to six, letting pilots fly bigger airplanes and more people without a third-class medical.
BasicMed lets most private pilots bypass the traditional FAA medical exam by seeing their own doctor every 4 years and completing an online course every 2 years.
