  1. Give yourself a later, better departure and accept you might arrive tomorrow. A lost campsite deposit is the cost of doing business - cheaper than the alternative every time.
  2. Plan a real fuel-and-weather stop halfway. Get out, stretch, pull a fresh briefing, and re-run PAVE with new information.
