Check the personal minimums card. Call the nearest suitable airport while you still have altitude, fuel, and options.

Does Social Pressure Play a Role?

Yes, and pretending otherwise does not make you safer.

Passengers, expectations, rental costs, hotel reservations, faces waiting at the destination - none of these should enter the cockpit. The regulations are clear that the pilot in command is the final authority on the safety of the operation. But the psychology is real and powerful.

Part of the preflight on any weather-involved flight is a social preflight. Before leaving the ground, set expectations. Tell passengers that the plan includes the possibility of stopping.
