What Was the Cost and the Legacy?

The flood did much of what Barnes Wallis had hoped: power stations drowned, factories flooded, and rail lines and roads washed out. But the raid did not win the war, and honest history has never claimed it did. The Germans repaired the dams faster than anyone expected, and the strategic effect faded.
