After Suva, the final leg - another 21 hours of flight - felt different. The Australian coast was drawing closer. The hard part was behind them.

The Arrival

An estimated 20,000 to 25,000 people had been waiting at Eagle Farm since before dawn. They had been flying, with brief stops, for the better part of two weeks.
